Here are the five most valuable brands in the world:

  1. Apple
  2. Google
  3. Microsoft
  4. Amazon
  5. Facebook

All of them, except Apple, make most of their money off of mining peoples data. And Apple makes a good amount of money off of it too.

How can the clicks and views of people be worth so much? The short answer is advertisement.

So how much is your data worth to you? These companies do not monetarily purchase this data from you but instead they give you products that are valuable to you and entice you to give them your information.

Think of all of the “free” services you use that are primarily funded by your information: Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Search, Android, Bing, and well most of the internet.

So how much is your data worth to you? Well you are actually getting a lot of value out of all these feature rich services at your finger tips. That is pretty valuable.

Just remember that it you are not paying for a product, then you are the product being sold to others.
